Katherine Bahena-Benitez (she/they) is a Mexican Indigenous actor, writer, director, fillmmaker, model and teaching artist who is bicoastal between California and New York. Katherine has trained with the American Conservatory Theater, Shakespeare and Company, the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, California State University Sacramento and Broadway Advocacy Coalition at Columbia University. They’ve performed with New York Stage and Film, Teatro Linea de Sombra, NYU Skirball, La Lengua Teatro, National Queer Theater, La Mama Experimental Theater Club, and Teatro Espejo, among others. Katherine has been featured in Vogue, HipLatina, Remezcla, VoyageLA, Fenty, Canvas Rebel, Brooks, YITTY, Apostrophe Magazine. Katherine is a Lin-Manuel Miranda Family Fellow Alumni, a LORT Fellow Kennedy Center Alumni, a BAX Emergenyc Arts Alumni, a Queer Art Fellow Alumni, and recipient of the John Cauble Emerging Producer Leader Award. Katherine’s writing has been published in HEROICA, Museum Guild, and the International Human Arts Movement. Katherine's solo show JOTA debuted in Sacramento, CA with Teatro Espejo. Katherine's original works include Morena, La Tierra de Sueños, Curandera and Gay Panic. Katherine says, “Con mucho amor y cariño, I do this for our gente, I do this for us.”
